 File

Summary

From the Series:

Series 9 is organized into three artist subseries: A) Carl Andre; B) Maria Nordman; and C) Richard Serra. Although these artists were not formally addressed within the context of the PCI, an opportunity arose to interview both Andre and Nordman and discuss a selection of their works during the project period. Serra was considered during a larger reclassification of paper-based artwork components and his works did not receive any in-depth study during the PCI.

Documents that entered the Guggenheim Collection during the Panza Collection acquisition were examined and reclassified when appropriate during the PCI, and these items are listed under Artworks. For Carl Andre, 7 documents were reclassified to archives and the status of 13 paper-based artwork components remains unchanged.

For Maria Nordman, 6 documents that were previously cataloged as artwork components were reclassified to archives. The status of 8 paper-based artwork components remain unchanged.

For Richard Serra, 40 documents were reclassified to archives and are listed in the finding aid.

The PCI conducted two interviews with Carl Andre, and reviewed a total of 12 works in the museums’ holding during the two sessions.
